Artist. Dean Ellis was born in 1948. He studied at the Vancouver School of Art (now Emily Carr University of Art + Design) for two years and received a Bachelor of Arts in Fine Arts from the University of British Columbia in 1971, studying under Toni Onley and Ian Wallace. His work has been included in exhibitions at the Vancouver Art Gallery, the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria, Museum of Modern Art (Paris), the Saidye Bronfam Centre, London Art Gallery, and the Winnipeg Art Gallery. A land artist, Ellis made interventions in the landscape, using photography to document his work.
