Filmmaker, writer. Tom Shandel received a Bachelor of Arts from the University of British Columbia (1962) and a Diploma in Communications from Stanford University (1966). After working in the theatre in Toronto, London, and Vancouver, Shandel was hired by the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation. He began writing and producing radio documentaries, which led into film and video production at the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation and the National Film Board of Canada. He would go on to produce television and film documentaries for Global, CityTV, TVOntario, Bravo!, VisionTV, BC Knowledge Network, and international broadcasters such as Channel 4 in England and the Public Broadcasting System in the United States. Shandel currently lives and works in Cowichan Bay, where he is president of Getaway Films Incorporated.
